Goals and Words for 2019

Goals represent fresh starts, dreams, and potential. I'm sharing my 2019 goals today to encourage you that it's never too late to start goals. It's also goo to share goals for accountability. Feel free to comment below to share your goals or goal progress.

I like the idea of choosing a word for the year. In 2018, I choose the word "new." I challenged myself and try many new things last year: new books, new workouts, and new recipes.

In January, I was trying to think of a word or phrase of the year. The words intentional, friendship and consistent kept popping up. I decided to make it a phrase intentional, consistent friendship. I want to be intentional with the people around me. It's so easy for me to get comfortable and maybe even lax with friendships, especially when life gets busy or overwhelming. Friendships are a huge blessing and should be treated as such. Community is so important; we can't do life alone.

Little did I know, my husband and I would be moving states. So, being intentional with my friends in different states will be more important than ever. Moving is a big stretch. I've lived in 4 different states and the first year or two can be especially overwhelming and lonely. So, here's to being intentional and consistent with "old" friendships and to being brave and meeting new people and building new friendships.

Here are my intentional goals that I plan to be consistent with in 2019.

1) Try 10 new recipes.

This goal is to challenge to find new dinner inspiration, to try new cooking techniques, and taste new foods. In 2018, I tried 15 recipes. I was surprised that I tried that many recipes. I'm excited to see what new recipes I will find and like.

Do you have any favorite recipes? If so, share them below. I would love your recommendations!
Or, is there anything you want to learn to make?

2) Read 5 books.

I read the 9 books in 2018. I'm aiming a little lower because of the move and general life taking up more of my spare time for the first half of the year.

Give a Girl a Knife: A Cooking Memoir by Amy Thielen
- The Ungarnished Truth: A Cooking Contest Memoir by Ellie Mathews

What books do you recommend?

3) Be physically active consistently.

In 2018, I played tennis and took barre classes. Both were great, and I plan to continue to incorporate them in 2019. Also, our apartment complex has a gym, so that is super convenient.

Do you have favorite exercise class or app?
What motivates you to be physically active?
What keeps you consistent with physical activity?

4) Learn and improve a skill.

I took several cooking classes in 2018 year. I took a Mediterranean cooking class, an Italian cooking class, and a Vietnamese Street Food cooking class. There are some great tips to make cooking easier and fun menu ideas.

Do you have anything you want to learn to cook this year?
Do you recommend any particular cooking classes?
What's something new you're trying this year?
